NY Transplant in Tampa needs help

LIGirl4ever Oct 17, 2010 05:50 AM

I have recently moved from NY to Tampa. I have heard there is a pizza place that imports water from NY and is in or around South Tampa, the name has Z's in it. Also a chinese restaurant take out place called Yummy Something. Does anyone know of these places? Thank you for your help!

Don't know about the pizza place but the other is called the Yummy House on W. Waters. Excellent chinese food. Try China Yuan on N. Armenia also for chinese. We go back and forth as to which is the best chinese in Tampa so try them both and form your own opinion.

They are both great. I like China Yuan the best though for service, cleanliness, and atmosphere. I go to YH when I need the salt n pepper tofu and the seafood hot pot.

i know of an italian place in oldsmar that has its dough shipped down from jersey, because, as they say "it's all in the water". it's dominick's on curlew. hope that helps. i also heard pane rustica has fabulous pizza but i haven't tried it yet. i feel your pain, girl, pizza and chinese were both the hardest for me to adjust to down here in florida :)

Have you been to wood fired yet? The Sofia reminds me of good NY pizza. Super thin, blistered, high qulaity sauce and cheese.

Yummy House isn't only for takeout, btw; in fact, on busy weekend nights, they often refuse to take takeout orders. If you want to go on friday or Saturday night, my advice is, make a reservation. Oh, and it's BYOB.

Whenever I've gone, there's not that much of a wait if you get there in the first half of the hour. All the seats fill for the first sitting by 5:30 and then there's a lineup until about 6, and then there are seats available again.

Great pie can be found at Wood Fired and Paci's, at opposite ends of town.

Yummy House and China Yuan both vie for my attention.

Check out Brocato's for some Tampa-style indulgence.

oh man. I'd stand in a long line for a Brocato's hot pressed all the way.

(that sounds completely normal to someone from Tampa, and completely obscene to anyone else!)

You must be thinking of Eddie & Sam's on Twigg Street in downtown Tampa. They definitely use NYC water. Pizzaiolo on Franklin Street downtown is another good choice (but no NYC water).

For new york 'type' pizza in the Palm Harbor area, try Gino's New York Pizza on Tampa Road or Vetture's Restaurant on East Lake Road.

both owners are from New York, I understand. They are two of the very few places I will eat Pizza since I moved from The Bronx to Florida.

              New York Pizza
              7800 S US Highway 17/92, Casselberry, FL 32730

              East Lake Cafe
3430 E Lake Rd Ste 3, Palm Harbor, FL 34685

Wait, FROM New York? People actually move to Florida FROM New York? This concept baffles me.

(kidding, looking forward to trying Gino's!)
