Dinner out with the Boys
Hey guys,
Planning to get together with the boys and I was wondering if there was anything new that we can head to. it's going to be for a group of 9-13 guys, foodie types and non-foodies. We try to get to different restaurants every now and then. It's my turn to pick a place and I'm coming to you guys for some help.
I'm thinking gastro pub...but nothing really is standing out - but I'm probably wrong on that. Also would be interested in some comfort food, like fired chicken, mash potatoes, etc - not harlem, been there done that.
Would be up for other recs too...how's Beast?
I look forward to your help guys! Thanks!

Thanks for the recs guys! I'm not sure how beer became the emphasis - I put food ahead of the drinks...

re: excel
I'm in the same process as you... but for a smaller group of guys (and for me the beer is utmost important). Thus I'm hoping to go to BeerBistro. I did find a nice little write up by Greg Clow on TasteTO website, he lists a few gastropubs downtown with a breakdown of each one in terms of the beer, other drinks, and food.

re: excel
How about Czehoski? Oysters, pierogis and mac n' cheese are among the starters, and some of my ultimate comfort foods are listed as mains: slow braised lamb shank with root vegetables, duck confit, beef cheek and celeriac risotto. The beer list is impressive and the wine list short, but varied.
