kingeats Oct 16, 2010 11:13 AM

Taking my wife to a concert in Boston for her 30th Bday. We want to get some really great food while in town, which is just for the day than its back up to Maine. Anyone know of a good place to try out. We have no real restrictions as we love it all, though don't think were out to blow the bank if you know what I mean. We just want something real good and memorable.

What is your price range? What kind of cuisine?

I would call and ask for a single table at Mamma Maria's. They have valet parking, or it's a five minute walk (depending on the weather). Tell the person you speak to that it's your wife's b'day and you want a romantic place in the restaurant, if that single table is no longer available. They may suggest a table by a window overlooking the North End.

I think the Mamma Maria option is a great recommendation and I would second it. Also very close to TD Garden is all of the North End (Prezza and Taranta are great options, although MM wins in terms of atmosphere in my book). Grotto in Beacon Hill is also quite close and offers appetizer, entree, and dessert for ~$35 (any choice off of the menu) and thus may represent the best "bargain" nearby for what you are looking for. The Liberty Hotel also has decent options that are close to TD and is kind of cool inside, although a bit overpriced (Scampo for food, Clink for a drink).

good options so far, thanks. We are def open to any type of cuisine. We love everything from Thai to Greek to bbg and all in between. Doesn't matter if its white table cloth or hole-in-the-wall good times, we're into food.
