Laurel Tavern - Studio City

Met some friends at Laurel Tavern last night, my first experience there. It's a gastropub that I've heard compares to Father's Office. While I can see the similiarities, there are definite differences. While FO (at least the Montana location) is annoyingly crowded, last night at least Laurel Tavern was busy but not so busy where you could feel strangers' breath on your neck just waiting to pounce for your table the second you get up. The menu was also more Spanishesque with Spanish cheeses on the menu and lots and lots of chorizo. Some of my faves were the bone marrow, chorizo fondue, and the pork belly skewers - I would go back for 4 whole plates of the pork belly skewers all to myself. Didn't try the burgers, but I've heard they are great and I can't wait to go back to try those.

Agreed. Their pork belly skewers are delicious and their hamburgers are juicy and delicious.

Love the food. Hate the way you hve to order. Service otherwise is good to very good. Hamburgers are very very good but if you want onion don't forget to order it. Two different variations ordered by me required hailing a wait person to fetch fresh sliced onions. They do charge corkage and if you have a wine collection with wines in the zinfandel ans syrah areas take your own wine and pay. The pork belly skewers were just unbelievably good. The marrow bones are to die for. This is a destination place.
