NYC Foodie in SFO looking for dessert - baked goods, ice cream, etc. recommendations

I'm visiting NYC this weekend and would love any recommendations on some treats. I've heard of Bi Rite ice cream and am going to make it there. I discovered a wheat germ chocolate chip cookie yesterday near my hotel so I'm off to a good start.

I would love to hear any recommendations for amazing sweet treats while I'm hear. Also, any other recomendations would be welcome if you think I shouldn't leave without eating somewhere, feel free. I ate at Starbelly last night and loved it!

I'll be going to the farmer's market tomorrow morning any any specific recomendations would helpful.

Also, if there are any foodie tour blogs out there that you know of where someone has visited San Francisco and just went around eating, feel free to share it with me. Someone did that in NYC a while back and thought I wish I had something like that for every city I visit.

Thanks for your help!

Too late it looks like, but...

i have a massive sweet tooth too : ) so I feel like dessert is all I eat. Unfortunately I can't have baked goods at most places, so I can't help you there.

Ice cream is discussed often on this board. Bi-rite, Humphrey Slocombe and Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous are favorites of mine. It depends on what I am in the mood for that day, with bi-rte being the one I go to least often.

Chocolates: Poco Dolce tile, Cocoa Delice salted caramels and peanut butter, Rechuitti carmelized hazelnuts and fleur del sel, Chocolatier Blue citrus flavors are some of my favorite. the latter is in Berkeley. I apparently really like salted chocolate : ).

Dynamo donuts is my husbands favorite and he enjoyed Donut Plant too. I bought him a Bob's apple fritter and while he said it was a cut above the rest, he has enjoyed others more...

If you're in the Mission, I really like Anthony's Cookies, my favorite are the toffee chip but the oreo ones are popular too. I'd also recommend Mitchell's Ice Cream for some unusual flavors such as Ube (Purple Yam) and Humphry Slocombe's Secret Breakfast, which is whiskey and frosted flakes. Arizmendi Bakery just opened I haven't had a chance to go there yet but definitely check out Tartine Bakery! Also, Bob's Donuts are yummy, try the apple fitters.

Finally, my husband bought me THE most perfect chocolate from Saratoga Chocolates in the Castro. Caramel, Almond, Toffee Squares: This layered treat starts with milk chocolate then toffee, nuts, and caramel. It's covered with dark chocolate and finished with sea salt. YUM!

You might do a search for visitor reports on this board -- there are quite a few of them, including several from other NYers. Since you like sweets, when you're at the Ferry Building for the farmer's market, don't miss Rechuitti insider the building -- get the fleur de sel caramels.

This report from NYer j.jessica.lee seems to cover a lot of what you're looking for:
