Best new restaurant in St. Petersburg?
Do you want "new" or do you want "something that's been around for a bit"? Sweet Polly is confused...but she does the same damn thing when she writes sometimes, so don't take it the wrong way. ;)
I don't have a crystal ball, so I can't say who will stay around awhile in this economy...but I think Ceviche (in particular it's cafe restaurant Pincho y Pincho), St. Pete Brasserie, and Cafe Alma are worth a whirl. Parkshore Grill and it's offshoot (400 Beach Seafood and Taphouse) don't impress me much. Haven't been to Cassis, but the menu looks nice and it's on my "to do" list.
There's a Columbia on The Pier which is a nice standby with great water views. I know the Columbia isn't forging any new culinary paths...but I do find the food to be tasty and generally solid, and it's one of the top Tampa Bay iconic restaurants. Not sure where you're from, but it's worth doing once, IMO.
