Re: Grape jam/preserves

Does anyone know where in Central London I can buy grape jam/preserve? I've tried the usual supermarkets but cannot find it.

  1. I don't think I've ever seen grape jam or jelly here in the UK - anywhere. If you really need a fix, you can buy it at This company sells many American products, and although I've never used the site, I know people who find it very handy... sadly, very expensive. They do have Miracle Whip, so I may break down and buy some one of these days.

@zuriga1, you can make a reasonable sub for Miracle Whip by adding sugar and vinegar to storebought mayo. You can start with a tablespoon of each for a cup of mayonnaise, and if that's not quite right, add another Tbs of each. I also usually add a litttle American-style (i.e., French's or what's called "ballpark" ) mustard to the mixture. I've used wine vinegar and cider vinegar; both work.

lemons... thanks - I'll give that a try. I had never realized till I saw a few recipes on the Web, that Miracle Whip has vinegar in it. I just bought a jar of it last week in Copenhagen so I'm set for awhile. I was shocked to see it on a department store's food hall's shelf. It doesn't seem fair that they have it and no where in London stocks it. :-)

    2. Selfridges food hall carries a range of US products, you could try there.

      1. Try Panzer's in St. Johns Wood.

        1. & seem cheaper than skyco & americansweets has a store up north. try them
