Vegetarian Tasting Menus - Anything new this year?

I have a birthday tomorrow, and I'd like to have a nice meal. Any new vegetarian tasting menu options show up this past year?

  1. Kajitsu is a fairly new restaurant that serves shojin cuisine, which does not use meat and fish.

Scarpetta also introduced a vegetarian menu a few months ago; while it's not a tasting menu per se, they could probably create one for you.

Actually, I did the menu at Kajitsu last year. It was fantastic.

    2. SHO did a really nice tasting menu for my GF who is vegetarian, they just need some advance notice. Chef H was very excited to hear what she thought of it.

      1. Thanks for the suggestions so far. My wife's birthday is five days later, so more suggestions are useful if you're aware of any.

You could take a ride up to Blue Hill at Stone Barns - they do new stuff with veg tastings all the time.

Also. EMP's new format works really well for a veg.

Good suggestions, but nearly impossible to get reservations at both.

That's true, but OP may have some luck with mid week stuff on short notice, weekend, pretty much forget it.

I called EMP for a Tuesday night dinner, two weeks before the date, without luck!

Really? I've gotten several reservations at EMP on very short notice–although I guess it just depends on the week!

Well, I could have taken the 10:00pm table, but I was hoping for earlier. I am, though, on the wait-list for an earlier time, so we'll see what happens.

On Monday nights, Dovetail does a 3 course vegetable tasting menu (one with a vegetarian option and another with vegetables as the main influence with certain options having meat/fish as well):

I really like Dovetail and would recommend it to anyone.
