Help plan my Baltimore afternoon on Saturday

My wife and I are headed to Baltimore this Saturday.

First, we're taking in the Clipper City Brewery Tour from 12:30-2pm. After which, I need suggestions for getting some down and dirty good food in Baltimore. I'm considering Faidley's in Lexington Market but I understand they're hit or miss these days.

Please point me in the right direction for cheap, Baltimore specific food. The type of place I want to brag about when I get back to DC. I'd like to get a Baltimore classic, crab cakes preferably. $12/plate or less is even better.

  1. You do want to go to Faidley's. That price is really low-balling it though - I dont remember exactly but the crabcake is more than $12. There are many other Balto-specific dishes to be had at the market.

Other ideas to fill out your day might include a tour of the Constellation & Torsk at the Inner Harbor, or just walk around Fells Point. If it is rainy, maybe a museum - there is a new exhibit at the AVAM. ... Have fun!

    1. The Baltimore Running Festival is on Saturday. Road closing info is available on the race website:

      1. I am a fan of the Faidley's experience, but the crabcake is not great. I find that the saltine binder makes it a bit gummy.

If you want to brag, I suggest Pioneer Pit Beef. Literally a shack underneath the highway. the kind of place you'd dream about finding out in the countryside.
