Fast-Casual French Cafés?

Hello! I recently visited Paris and have become obsessed with French cuisine. I know I couldn't have picked a more common obsession, but I can't help it!

I've eaten at a few of the well known French restaurants (Cadot, etc), but I'm interested in the more fast-casual Parisian-style Café restaurant. La Madelein is an example of the type of place/price range I'm looking for, but with better food. I know La Madelein is French like the Olive Garden is Italian and I want to avoid that.

Any suggestions for places around the metroplex?

  1. I can't think of a place off the top of my head, but have you been to Rise?

    1. I've eaten at Lavendou (North Dallas on Preston neat GWB) and Toulouse (Knox Henderson) and had good experiences. Prices higher than La Madeleine but can't really think of anything else that's French bistro-ish.

      1. Lavendou and Toulouse are both very good. I just ate at ToulouseTuesday afternoon and it was great. Very French with sidewalk dining.

        1. Regrettably, Dallas lacks a good French Bistro style restaurant. It just doesn't exist. Toulouse is the closest imitation we have and it's not really very close. Nor is there a really good version of the small family-run neighborhood French restaurant that is so common in Paris, either. Lavendou is somewhat in that vein, but it has Provencal influences, as I recall, which one doesn't often see in Paris proper. (And frankly, I don't remember it's Provencal menu being all too authentic.)

          2. genslay,

I know exactly what you are referring to. You are talking about what the French call a Cafe, not a Bistro. Unfortunately, it ain't here. I have spent alot of time in France and dearly miss those places here. Rise is the closest you will find. Otherwise, I've found that you can find the necessary ingredients here and make your own.

              1. If there is such a thing in all of Texas, I'd love to know where. The one good thing about it, because of that we are always eager for a trip back to Paris
