Taking a side trip to Cardiff when I'm in London next month and don't see much here. Just looking for mid priced pubs and restaurants, Welsh influenced maybe. And if there's some specialty or ethnic concentration in the area that we should try, let me know. These places were mentioned and look decent, any others?
Bayside Brasserie: Mermaid Quay
A few years ago I had lunch at Madame Fromage (www.madamefromage.co.uk) after visiting Cardiff Castle (it's in an arcade across the road from the castle), and can recommend it. It's a deli and cheese shop primarily, and also does brilliant comfort food (I had some kind of sausage casserole, but cannot remember any more than that I enjoyed it, sorry!). It had a lovely atmosphere, and we came quite late in the lunch service, so got a seat easily. It makes for a great lunch spot. You could easily put together a lunch of Welsh produce from the deli.
