Shiki Sushi Flemington is no more

Looks like Shiki Sushi on Rt. 31 in Flemington has closed its doors. There is a new sign centered above Shiki and the deli to the left of it that closed. The sign says Wasabi 31. Does anyone have any info?

    Shiki is now reopened as Wasabi 31. Same owners, same great food!

      Wasabi 31 is operated by the same owners as Shiki. They just expanded, remodelled and renamed it. Should be opening any day now. We liked Shiki alot and are hoping the quality remains at least as good. Looking forward to seeing how the remodel turned out.

        I love Shiki as well. They actually planned on closing at the end of August/beginning of September for expansion. This was suppose to take 4 weeks and they did say they would be calling the new restaurant Wasabi 31. It seems the expansion is taking longer than expected but they ARE coming back :)

          There is a sushi place in Clinton called Wasabi and a restaurant in Somerville called Wasabi Asian Plates. Do you know if there's a connection between any of these?

            There's also Wasabi 34 on Rt. 34 in Matawan. I know that and the Somerville place is owned by the same person, who also owns Wasabi House in East Brunswick on Tices Lane.

          Bummer. I liked that place. Granted, I haven't gone there in a long time because I've been frequenting Aikou. Maybe everyone else has, too.

            I've been to Aikou a couple of times but only for the sushi. Have you had any of their non-sushi items and if so what would you recommend?

              Ambrose, the sushi at Aikou is the best part of their menu. That said, there are a few other good items. Their pad thai is good, and we love their thai basil fried rice. A few other thai items have been acceptable. I would not recommend the tempura there. I found it heavy and greasy. Speaking of thai, I just got an email that the new thai place by stop and shop is opening on Monday. Lets keep our fingers crossed for good thai food in flemington!
