FEAST hasn't missed a step

We ate at FEAST (again) Sunday night and it was excellent. The bread they serve is the best I've
eaten in a restaurant. I don't know if they make it in house, but it certainly tastes like they do. Terrific. I had the liver and onions with bacon. It came served over the silkiest mashed potatoes
you can imagine. Also, the side of sauteed spinach was delicious with just a hint of onion. There
were more onions on top. The whole dish was simply the best. My sister had a "specials" offered that night...roasted lamb neck. If anything, it was better than my choice! Tender roasted lamb meat lightly flavored with ...something...and oh, so tasty. That was served with a side of crisp broccoli. We cleaned our plates so could not have dessert, but when there before, we had the sticky toffee pudding. We both wished we had been able to have it again!

The next morning, we went to our favorite Tex-Mex for "Mexican breakfast". Unfortunately, we were
very disappointed in this meal. We've eaten breakfast at LaMexicana (just off Westheimer on
Montrose) many, many times, but this meal was not good. Maybe their listing in Zagat has made
them complacent, but they need to pay more attention to the ranchero sauce on the huevos. Very
watery and no flavor. My sister had the fajita meat with her eggs and said it tasted like pot roast,
definitely NO fajita flavoring. My tamale was just o.k. The place is usually very crowded, but not
that morning. Hope they return to their flavorful meals and gracious service.

Feast is one of my favorite places in town. I haven't been since they opened Feast NOLA. I wonder who is cooking in each location and how the new place is doing. I certainly wish them luck.
