The post below got me craving pumpkin pie or pumpkin ice cream. Where do you go for your favorite pumpkin pie or pumpkin dish or dessert??

Last week I went to Fosselman's in Pasadena/Alhambra? and had a taste of their pumpkin pie ice cream, but it was a bit too 'pumpkin-y' for me. Any other suggestions of places to go for pumpkin ice cream??

I know some of the restaurants have seasonal pumpkin desserts, but I haven't seen any yet.

Okie let the pumpkin hunt begin! =)

Based on much chowhound buzz, we finally made it over to the Monastery of the Angels (cloistered Dominican Nuns) yesterday to pick up a loaf of their pumpkin bread ($7). When we saw them pull it out of the freezer, we grimaced, but it was REALLY GOOD, moist, a tiny bit spicy, lightly pumpkin flavored, nice walnuts. I'd definitely buy it again-we had it with tea yesterday, breakfast this morning...

Here are a couple options to keep in mind. Dr. Bob's pumpkin ice cream is great, but it might be too pumpkin-y for you. It's available at Surfa's and some specialty food stores. Pumpkin Beer from Buffalo Bill's Brewery in Hayward, CA is wicked good.

It's a really bad year for Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin Ale. Each batch is different than the last. Previous years have proven wildly erratic. This year the spice notes are weak, and it ends up tasting unusually juicy and watered down. Hence my quest for the more concentrated east coast varieties.

I love me the pumpkin beer... but Buffalo Bill's, Shipyard, and Blue Moon are all bad this year. Sorry.

They have a great pumpkin side dish at Messob Ethiopian restaurant on Fairfax (and at some other Ethiopian restaurants too, I presume). If it's not on the menu, ask for it. It doesn't come with the vegetarian platter but rounds it out nicely. Yum.

Il Moro does a great pumpkin ravioli with a ragu that I think is lamb and beef. They serve it in a pumpkin too. It's really good, and they only have this time of the year.
