Dress Code at Cafe Spiaggia?

Ok, according to Cafe's website, a dress code is not enforced, but is the atmosphere TRULY like? Would we be out of place to waltz in there in jeans after romping around Chicago all day or should we head back to the hotel first and switch to business casual? What do other patrons wear?

Casual elegance -- which in my mind is not all that different from business casual.

So I would have no problem wearing jeans, but not the old, faded or torn ones. And I would be sure that what I was wearing on top was clean, crisp and nice: a jacket, a nice sweater or shirt. And I wouldn't wear those really comfortable old Nikes. I'd throw on a pair of flats or heels or -- for a man -- loafers or oxfords.

They'll be great and serve you in the old jeans and athletic shoes, but i would be more comfortable going just a step up.

That is how I would sum it up as well. I wore jeans and a button-down shirt with your typical business casual shoes and it seemed about right to me. I would have felt a bit out of place with a jacket or tie, or in tennis shoes and a t-shirt.

I think this is perfect, but I'd also not feel out of place in a jacket and even a tie.
