Alto restaurant

maj54us Oct 11, 2010 10:10 PM

Had a good meal there this afternoon before the football game.

We had an all dressed pizza with a poutine

gravy on the poutine was good, they use mozarella cheese on it so it's kind of a fight to eat. Like a moza web attacking you from all side.

Pizza was also good. The sauce had a good taste also.

my expereience for what we ate was a good 6.5/10. nothing to write home about but above average quality and tatste. a decent cheap eat place.

I order from there sometimes but have to say their poutine is one of the worst in the city (so are their fries), the pizza is super greasy, and the hamburgers taste like cat food. Anything with chicken is pretty good and their feta cheese is great.

the club sandwich isn't so good
i ordered their veggie burger often enough when i was a vegetarian. it wasn't good but they're one of the few places with a veggie burger for delivery

Desagree I had really bad poutine and their poutine is above average. As I said mozarella is not a good idea on poutine but it did taste okay, Fries where krispy, don't know if thwey are frozen or not. Gravy was tasting good also. Off course don't want to know how it's made ;)

Pizza was okay not greasy at all so I don't know what kind of pizza you ordered. Crust was fine not the tastiest but as mentioned it was okay.

as for cat food I'll pass this taste test hahaha.

above average cheap eats in my book

Cheap? Not exactly.. a medium pizza all dressed is 15 dollars without tax or tip, same price as ordering from il foccolaio which is a million times better. A small poutine is 6.50...I always found the gravy had a slight gingerbread taste but maybe its just me... either way; altos is a good place to know about after a few drinks or when you want to order late at night.

I hate to be pedantic ;) but mozarella on fries is NOT poutine, its cheese, fries and gravy...

okay then let's baptize the dish haha

I'll start with MozTine or Moutine

okay I know what you're thinking. don't quit your day job.

I'm sorry but mozzarella instead of curds and not being sure whether the fries are fresh or frozen and you call thaty an above average poutine? I run in the other direction with such a description.

                  alto's fries are definitely frozen

let's just face it - any quality of poutine does the job under the right circumstances

I like their daily special, served everyday before 7pm. Stay away from the "cake" however.

I order here often since it delivers real late Ive tried almost all their food

their pizza is always good, poutines are ok but they use mccain frozen fries, subs are awsome, the burgers are huge but taste like harveys burgers.

all in all altos is a great place to eat for a great price
