Looking for good espresso beans (for latte/cappuccino that is smooth and tasty)
I just bought an espresso machine and tried to make my first cup of cappuccino. I used Lavazza ground beans (the 250gm pack, Made in Italy). The resulting taste is similar to Starbucks's - it has a somewhat bitter and burnt aftertaste which I hate.
The golden standard for me is cafe con leche I drank in Barcelona, Spain (their version of latte) but also elsewhere in Europe - the one that's very strong, but smooth, very aromatic, without any bitterness or burnt aftertaste.
Any idea what kind of espresso beans I can buy either online or at a supermarket (Whole Foods, etc.) to get good cappuccino? Would appreciate any specific recommendations. I live in NYC.
I just bought a 3-cup Bialetti stovetop model and I want to find espresso that does not taste burnt , too. Please, someone, help us. The first can of espresso I bought smelled so burnt I did not mind throwing away the first three batches, as the manufacturer suggested.as a way to season the pot. It was really fun to watch the thing actually work, so I would really appreciate some help. I am not rich, so would like to have any good suggestion. I would be willing to pay for some really good ground espresso. Thanks.
