In need of Haggis.

Does anyone know where one can find a restaurant/pub that serves haggis year-round? I'm looking for something in Mississauga or Toronto.

I feel haggis is an untapped market.

Well, of course. It's a fish and chip shop. Very old school, no first-date romance whatsoever. But they do have haggis, albeit not in Mississauga or in what most folk call Toronto. But if you're willing to travel to Scarborough, we can talk. Deep fried Mars bars, too - as Scottish as it gets in the east end.

Call Allen's Scottish Butcher on Weston Road. They make most of the haggis in Toronto, so they can probably tell you if any restaurants are ordering haggis "out of season".

Are you sure this isn't for a last date?

If you don't mind 'doing it yourself' frozen versions are available at Mrs Bridges in Eglinton Square (whole, 'ball' or 'links (sausages).
They're a regular item in stock

It was kinda of for a first date, its preferable not to eat in. *sigh* why is haggis so hard to find?

Because its usually only served on Robbie Burns Day over here. Not much call for sheep's stomach stuffed with oatmeal otherwise.

And you want to eat this on a first date???

                This may be off topic,
                but
I have eaten it only a couple of times.
Once in London at a very upscale Brunch Buffet at our Hotel, and it seemed to have other fillers, as well.
                Innards?
It had a slightly bitter aftertaste on both ocassions.
Didn't like it for that reason.
Is there another kind of Haggis available in T.O.?

The versions I've had have been at Robbie Burns Day dinners, with copious quantities of scotch whiskey. I really enjoyed it and don't recall any bitter aftertaste.
Actually I don't recall much of anything!

You guys can come over to my place. I will prepare for you my famous 'giant haggis three ways'. I'll light some candles. You won't even notice I'm there.

Try The Caledonian in the old Alice's Restaurant spot at College/Ossington

And ask for Donna... she's lovely.

We went there for brlunch on Sunday and the Scottish Fry Up was great.

                And I should know.

The place forgoes the kitsch, and puts out some pretty damn decent Scottish pub food.

If only they would get more Scottish beer on tap or in bottles!
