Barrel-Aged Negronis

Has anyone tried these yet? I guess Temple Bar and Russell House have them...

We stopped by the Temple Bar on our way home on Saturday, and my husband had one. Actually, he liked it enough that he had two. I'm not usually a fan of Campari, but did think this was far more interesting than usual, and the Campari was mellowed quite a bit.

Russell house does not have them (some of their staff have never even heard of them)

I've had barrel-aged cocktails (manhattans, negronis, etc) at Clyde Common in Portland Oregon and found them amazing and definitely worth seeking out. It adds a nice complexity to these drinks and in the case of Negronis mellows the Campari drastically and brings it to a level of sophistication that a snobish cocktail drinker might reserve for Manhattans. It doesn't mask cheap ingredients though (in my opinion), so what you get out of them is directly related to what you put into them (I'm not a fan of Sapphire). I don't think my love for barrel-aged drinks is enough to make me ever go to the Temple Bar, but it's great knowing that Russell House has them too. I haven't been yet, but I better make that a priority. Here's a fun article on barrel-aged cocktails that I enjoyed in the NY Times:
