what's the BEST THAI in san francisco
What's the best Thai in SF - most authentic?
I've tried Siam Lotus on Haight and all the Osha Thai's. Looking for something as authentic as Chang Mai, Thailand!
Thanks everyone!

Actually, Basil Canteen on Folsom (not the original Basil) has some more "authentic" (whatever that word means anymore) thai ingredients.
Whole lychees as part of a stir fry, whole peppercorns still on the branch, and some great noodle dishes that I haven't seen elsewhere.

re: Dana B
That is a great tip, Dana B. I just discovered that a place in Vancouver does a noodle dish, pad kee mao, with fresh green peppercorns and I am in heaven. Basil Canteen is back on the radar (it was previously for a duck curry that we never made it in to try when visiting SF -- it is also in an architecturally interesting building I understand, if that floats your boat).

re: sfbing
so far, i've been most impressed with lers ros. too bad they don't have more LA thai town places up here.
if you're not convinced about lers ros, try the #9, #62, #69, #114
chabaa secret menu at sunset location is good and unique
sai jai thai does have a good pork shoulder over rice
