CHEAP food in San Juan

I was wondering if anyone could give me recommendations for cheap food in San Juan. I am going there with some friends in January, but we all have a very limited cash supply. We are renting an apartment so a lot of our meals will be made at home, so the ones we do have we want to be really worth it (and cheap!). I know there are a lot of san juan posts, but a lot of the recs seem to be pricey. Thanks,
