FOOD NOT PREPARED AS ORDERED AND SERVICE AWFUL.

We dined at Wild Olives last night (October 9), our fourth time at this "upscale" restaurant in Boca Raton. The first two times we dined here, it was great. The next time, the service was horrible and the manager told us they were having problems with the kitchen staff. This didn't make us feel any better at that time, but we thought we would give it another try.

Last night was a bummer. We had reservations at 6:30 PM, and were seated immediately in a booth that we requested. So far, so good. There weren't any other diners in that area other than one couple who was almost finished. The waitress came right over and asked if we wanted drinks. We told here to give us a minute. While we decided, other diners came and were seated in two booths near us. Within 5 minutes, they received bread and water at their tables. We did not receive any… and when we asked the hostess for bread, she said we had to ask for it (which we later found out from a manager that this was untrue). We have always been served bread in the past without having to ask for it!!!

After finally being served bread, we ordered drinks and our meals. We ordered a Bibb Lettuce salad to be split. It was supposed to have "shaved mache red onion and maytag showered blue cheese.” When our salads arrived, there were a few pieces of "sliced" onion in the middle, and no discernible blue cheese. We noticed the same salad that was delivered to other tables had lots of blue cheese on top. Ours had none.

Next came the main courses. One of the dishes, a bone-in rib-eye, was supposed to be "very well done." This is the way we like it. We emphasized very, very well-done to the waitress and she said it will come out that way. Guess what? It came out medium, and for some reason it was cut. We sent it back to be cooked more. The other dish (pork chop) was very good, although at this point, we were thoroughly disgusted.

A manager came over and asked how our meals were and we told him. He said he was having issues with the service. (Seems like this place is always having issues.). He apologized and left. He also said he was new at this location.

We feel that Todd English (wherever you are) should be overseeing this restaurant….or it will be closed like other restaurants that cannot keep up with the best of them!

If this is what a Todd English restaurant is supposed to be, count us out.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. The Times (or was it NY Mag?) recently reviewed Todd's new place in NYC, saying it was grandly mediocre. I always enjoyed Todd English's BlueZoo in Orlando, sucks this place isn't up to par.

A bone in rib-eye "very well done" and you wonder why they had to cut it?

I would think almost any restaurant would cut a steak to see if it was well done as that is not often ordered and some steak houses will actually ask a patron to order something else rather than overcook a steak. Mache is a lovely type of lettuce, I think you read the menu incorrectly or didn't know what you had ordered.

Maybe because of the 6:30 ressie they got them too close to closing time.

          It is Boca....
