looking for a nice restaurant in or around west chester besides gilmores.

this is for my wife's bday. we eat at top restaurants in center city philadelphia often and consider ourselves a little snobby when it comes to food. some of our favorites include amada, tinto, distrito, capital grille, prime rib, basically any steven starr, la viola, and union trust. we also like sushi, but thought morimoto was very good but soooooo overpriced. we get sushi in the suburbs very close to the quality of morimoto for 1/4 of the price (prob even less than that). don't like french food and that is why i said besides gilmores.

You might want to try the "new kid on the culinary block" -- Foxfire at the Stone Barn, in the Kennett Square area. I've been there twice for dinner and I've been quite impressed with the food and service both times. It's BYO -- no corkage fee. http://www.thestonebarn.com/foxfire.htm

I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised if you go. And if you do, I'll be eager to hear your impression.
