Alcazar Express, Attari Sandwich Shop (and their new Grill might be good), Sprazzo, Happy Hour at Palomino, Soliel for Poutine and reasonable French fare.

New India Cafe is decent, with a buffet at lunchtime. About a block south of Wilshire on west side of the street.

2nd rec. for Palomino's happy hour which I believe is from 5:00 until whenever they close. Damon & Pathias for Greek food. LaMonica's for NY style pizza. Noodle Planet for pan Asian. Basically there are tons of good, cheap places in the Westwood village, walk around and explore - they are catering to college kids.

Another Thai food place that is good (I don't want to oversell it) is Thai House right in the Village.

i actually also like napa valley grille, they have a pretty outdoor garden with some happy hour prices. its across the street from palomino.
also popular - but certainly not authentic, but cheap and pretty tasty - is mr. noodle. lunch specials, and free refills on the thai iced tea and coffee. dont eat anything seafood and their beef is a little stringy, but their green curry is decent. pad thai is sweet but theres a lot of it.

I had a real good sandwich (The Hero) at Wally's today, which is over on Westwood just south of Santa Monica. With their cheese selection (not to mention wine and beer), I will probably go here instead of Bay Cities.

Ambala Dhaba (Westwood Blvd. just north of Santa Monica)
It is never, ever crowded and the food is very tasty if you like Indian. The lunch specials are a great deal: for $7-9 you get the entree of your choice from a fairly long list, rice, dal, appetizer, dessert and bread. Dal, appetizer, and dessert are chef's choice always good. Also, there are a few curried/pickled vegetables on plate, which I love. I pretty much go there every Monday and usually skip dinner.

In Westwood Village itself I don't think there is much to write home about, all decent but nothing special with the exception of Native Foods if you are vegan/enjoy vegan fare. Just a little south of Westwood Village (think a mile) things get more interesting:
-Ramayani, an indonesian place a little north of Santa Monica Blvd. on Westwood Blvd. It's run by an elderly couple and is pretty great.
- Sunnin, a Lebanese place which is mighty tasty.
-Shaherzad , one of the many persian restaurants along this strip.
-saffron & rose ice cream - super tasty persain/iranaian ice cream
