Great dinner at eVe

D Hound Oct 8, 2010 08:12 AM

I had a wonderful meal at eVe. I had a cold corn chowder with huitlacoche and crawfish (very nice; highlight were the dehydrated corn kernels, that added a wonderful crunch to the otherwise smooth dish), a coho salmon with yuzu served on top of noodles (one of the best pieces of salmon I've had, cooked beautifully, sous vide, at very low heat, truly enhanced by the yuzu), and a really outstanding dish of veal sweetbreads and liver (one of the very best I've had, up there with, for instance, Tom Pemberton's sweetbreads at his lovely Hereford Road in London). Congrats to the chef and his team.

I was walking by yesterday and noticed they'd changed their pricing a bit, the first two courses are $25, additional are $11 each.

yeah, it's been like that for a while now. I think too many people were just getting 2 entrees each time instead of mixing it up with apps, entree and dessert.

The desserts are not worth $11. The first 2 courses for $25 are fine. They also changed their Opentable policy, which requires a credit card. (I was about to grab a table there for tonight, it was after the new cancellation policy time, and I wasn't going to be able to get in touch with my dining companion for an hour to be 110% sure, so I ended up getting a table elsewhere.)
