eats near bus depot
Greetings, Torontonians! I come (generally in peace, though sometimes kinda crankily) often by bus to your fair city. Where to grab a bite before and after the long ride?

Not cheap necessarily but Rodney's by Bay is probably a 10 minute walk (head south on Bay just south of Queen to Temeperance). They do a great lobster roll.

There's an excellent shawarma joint on the west side of Dundas about 1/2 block south of University (maybe a five minute walk from the bus depot). Can't remember the name. Chicken shawarma (pita or platter) is pretty much all they do, but they do a damn fine job.

Just cut down to Dundas and walk west about a block and you'll find Kenzo Ramen. Some of the best ramen options in the city, I'm partial to the tonkotsu myself. http://www.kenzoramen.ca/

There is also a Big Fat Burrito on Dundas. I believe it's just west of the station. I like the pulled pork/yam combo, although I think you have to ask specifically for it as they don't come listed together on the menu. I haven't tried any other kinds.

If you like burritos, you're also only a couple of blocks from Chipotle. I don't know if this U.S. chain has made it to Montreal yet, but it's very good, if a bit pricey. Don't let the chain status turn you off, as they use hormone-free meat and make everything fresh in the store (and no, they are not owned by McDonald's). Get the carnitas burrito. :)

You are close to Mercatto at College and Elizabeth. Reasonably priced with some decent wines. There's a new dim sum spot on Bay called the Crown Princess that's getting good reviews although I haven't been. W Burger Bar is a short walk away at Yonge and College. And for cheap and cheerful Chinese there is Yueh Tung at Elizabeth and Dundas.
Hope this helps before or after those bus rides :)
