Recipe:Honey bee fizz

I made this recipe yesterday and I'm reposting here from my new blog. Tell what you think;

2 tsp honey
one egg white
2 oz Gin
1 oz Lillet
1 oz orange juice
Club soda
a splash of lime juice

1. Heat honey in microwave for a one minute.
2. Add egg white, gin, lillet, orange juice and lime jucie to shaker.
3. add honey
4. Dry shake vigorously for a minute.
5. Add ice.
6. Shake again for minute.
7. Pour into cocktail glass.
8. Add club soda
9. Enjoy.

Tasting notes: This drink tastes mostly of honey, orange and gin. After a few sips I can taste the lillet. But mostly honey and gin. My sense of smell isn't very good right now. I still have cold. But I like what I can taste and I think I will make this drink again. The fizz is dying down now. I think the lillet helps to marry the flavors. I'm not sure.

  1. First, I'm glad you reposted. I think your original post was deleted by the moderators because it referenced your blog too succinctly.

This drink reminds me of a Bee's Knees, but with fizz and orange from the Lillet and OJ. I don't know how big a splash of lime you're using, but it sounds pretty darn sweet. 2 tsp (1/3 oz) of honey is a lot -- equivalent to about 2/3 oz simple or honey syrup.

You might try a version without the OJ. Make it be more about the Gin and Lillet and honey, with just enough lime to balance the honey -- maybe 1 tsp of a strongly-flavored honey, plus 2 tsp lime. The interesting flavor of the Lillet would probably come through more. Just a thought.

Bee's Knees is one of my favorite cocktails ever. Soooo good and not overly sweet.

I was trying to make a Bebbo but I didn't have lemon.
