Blisteringly Good Szechuan Dinner @ Lucky Dragon
Wow, mouth still dancing from a great meal @ Lucky Dragon last night. J. Gold featured this place in Counter Intelligence a few months ago (see link below) and I'm sorry it took me so long to get there.
Highlights:
Wontons in Chili Oil - fantastic, best I've had in SGV.
Chinese Bacon with Dry Sauteed Green Beans - couldn't detect any green beans but it didn't matter, the bacon was great.
Twice Cooked Pork - loved it. One of the few non-incendiary items and the sweetness really came thru the fire.
Water-Boiled Beef - the pinnacle of the meal. The beef was soooo, soooo tender and the sauce beyond hot...real pore-opening stuff.
Fried Noodle - basically lo-mein. Basically boring.
Chongqing Chicken - another peak in a meal full of them. Salty and Super-Hot.
Mapo Tofu - another best-in-class medal.
Total $53, for the 7 dishes.
No beer (Gold says they do have beer and wine, but not last night). I ran around the corner to the Hong Kong Supermarket for a few Tsingtao's to cut the heat.
Altogether, an unforgetable Szechuan experience. Highly recommended -- if you like it hot!
