Octopus

lawyerbriefs Oct 6, 2010 09:11 PM

Any recommendations for octopus? We'll be downtown, with no car, and I crave some grilled octopus, nicely charred. No place too fancy, but no taco trucks or takeout, either.

I have had the octopus at Athens MArket in the past and it has always been very good. Call and ask for Mary Papas, the owner.

I'd say Mariscos Godoy, but it's in Chula Vista and probably not all that easy to reach from downtown sans car. Excellent grilled pulpo.
      Or Starlite for grilled
      Or fried-baby octopus at Okan.

Yeah, Starlite's is better than I thought it would be.

Countdown for Cgfan to weigh in on the Octopus from Kaito....

No can do as they don't dare grill their octopi! :-)

However if you're ever in Athens:

big 2nd on Marisco's Godoy, nicely marinated, grilled and so tender you can cut it with a fork. The OP can take the trolly to Palomar St. and it will only be one block away, well worth the ride.

Starlight and Godoy. Does Bluewater do one?
