re: Glencora
except in iran, in any public gathering-- you'd perhaps want to eat right handed, w fork in right hand, even if you were left handed?
i'm feeling smug bc i got poland right! :) superstition wrt seafaring is not something to mess with. according to my bulgarian ex-roomie you also can't light a cigarette from a candle, or you'll drown a sailor that way. i got 8/11.

re: soupkitten
Wow soupkitten, I better start paying attention to these things now that I live in a seafaring town. Wouldn't want to inadvertently off any of my neighbors!
I thought the Iranian question was a trick because you *only* eat, etc... with your right hand. One of my college teachers was born left handed and her mother tied her left hand so she could not use it to eat, or write at school, etc. She said the left hand was used for bathroom business and that even with washing was considered unclean.

8 for me - and what galls me is I missed both England and Scotland. Also missed Poland, but it looks like almost everyone did. They were mostly silly questions though.

It's not as serious as I thought it might be. But at least I got 8 out of 11. Poland threw me, it's been a while since my last time at a Spanish tapas bar (which apparently do not have garbage bags on their tables '-)), and I already forgot the 3rd one I got wrong.
Cute.
