  1. only 3 right but the questions were kinda silly

They weren't that silly. Except for the fork one.

    2. It's not as serious as I thought it might be. But at least I got 8 out of 11. Poland threw me, it's been a while since my last time at a Spanish tapas bar (which apparently do not have garbage bags on their tables '-)), and I already forgot the 3rd one I got wrong.

8 out of 11 for me as well. I missed the Polish, German and Scotland questions.

This is totally directed at kids but it's kind of funny!

      2. btw......9 correct out of 11 for me.....missed the Poland and Scotland questions myself ...but I'll admit I guessed on at least four others

        1. I got 7. That question about right and left handed forks was silly. BTW you might want to mute your computer if you're someplace not so private.

          1. That was fun!!! I am embarrassed at my score but learned and had fun.

            1. I got 9, but I guessed for a lot of them.

              1. I missed Scotland & Poland. Did some lucky guessing, too.

                Fun, fourunder!

                1. OK, only 7 of 11--but it was fun.

                  1. I got 7 out of 11 - Poland , Britain and Spain. But I lived in Spain and never saw anyone throw anything on the ground at any of the places we ate. Oh well it was fun :-)

                    1. 4 out of 10 for me. even with guessing.

                      1. 6 out of 11. I love how all these years we've been told to clean our plates because there are starving kids in China and here we find out that they leave food on their plates!! ( :

                        1. 9/11 - definite lucky guesses on some. I actually got Scotland correct, but Poland threw me as well! Fun, thanks!

                          1. 5 - and some of them were lucky guesses.

                            1. 8 for me - and what galls me is I missed both England and Scotland. Also missed Poland, but it looks like almost everyone did. They were mostly silly questions though.

I also missed England & Scotland which probably galls me more than it galls Bob (unless he's also British)

                                1. re: Harters

No, I'm a Bostonian (you know, the place where cheddar rhymes with feta), but I've spent an inordinate amount of time in the British Isles.

Hoping to pay a first visit to your fair city - but probably not till spring 2012 the way things are panning out

                                    1. re: Harters

Let me know when you're coming to town. I had a great meal with some local 'Hounds last time I was in London (in July) but haven't had the pleasure of visiting your part of the country yet.

                              2. The answer for question 3 makes no sense.

That's b/c there ARE no right or left handed forks. It's a trick question.

                                    1. re: Glencora

except in iran, in any public gathering-- you'd perhaps want to eat right handed, w fork in right hand, even if you were left handed?

i'm feeling smug bc i got poland right! :) superstition wrt seafaring is not something to mess with. according to my bulgarian ex-roomie you also can't light a cigarette from a candle, or you'll drown a sailor that way. i got 8/11.

                                      1. re: soupkitten

Wow soupkitten, I better start paying attention to these things now that I live in a seafaring town. Wouldn't want to inadvertently off any of my neighbors!

I thought the Iranian question was a trick because you *only* eat, etc... with your right hand. One of my college teachers was born left handed and her mother tied her left hand so she could not use it to eat, or write at school, etc. She said the left hand was used for bathroom business and that even with washing was considered unclean.

I grew up in Saudi and that is exactly right. That etiquette is outlined in the Quran.
Did anyone else have to mute that annoying "music" while taking that test??
                                            (I got 7/11)

                                  1. 8 out of 11. Cute quiz.

                                    1. Oh dear, low score, I'd better remain in Salt Lake City. (5 out of 11)
It struck me that even though some of the answers were surprising, they made perfect sense!

                                        1. 8/11, Poland and Scotland got me as well.

                                          1. That was fun - I missed Spain, Scotland and Poland.

                                            1. 10 of 11. But I had read half the posts so I knew the answer to Spain. I missed England.

                                              1. 11/11 - I found this very simple but I have studied food/history/culture - not one single guess. I have been to most of the countries mentioned in the quiz. But it still was directed towards kids and obviously not serious so I'm not exactly pumping my arm in glee! ;-o

                                                  1. re: Kholvaitar

I got 8 out of 11 on this one, and fortunately the background music was bearable.

                                                    1. 9 out of 11. I could make it in the big world.

Me too, PH. Can't believe I got the English chicken one wrong. Shoulda guessed the Polish one.

                                                        1. re: grayelf

Lol, I got 7. Apparently I should stay put in Canada and strangely I got the China one wrong (and I'm Chinese), Mom always told me about the starving kids in Africa.
