They weren't that silly. Except for the fork one.

    2. linguafood RE: fourunder Oct 6, 2010 03:41 PM

It's not as serious as I thought it might be. But at least I got 8 out of 11. Poland threw me, it's been a while since my last time at a Spanish tapas bar (which apparently do not have garbage bags on their tables '-)), and I already forgot the 3rd one I got wrong.

      Cute.

8 out of 11 for me as well. I missed the Polish, German and Scotland questions.

This is totally directed at kids but it's kind of funny!

btw......9 correct out of 11 for me.....missed the Poland and Scotland questions myself ...but I'll admit I guessed on at least four others

        1. Glencora RE: fourunder Oct 6, 2010 03:56 PM

I got 7. That question about right and left handed forks was silly. BTW you might want to mute your computer if you're someplace not so private.

That was fun!!! I am embarrassed at my score but learned and had fun.

I got 9, but I guessed for a lot of them.

              1. Georgia Sommers RE: fourunder Oct 6, 2010 04:10 PM

I missed Scotland & Poland. Did some lucky guessing, too.

                Fun, fourunder!

OK, only 7 of 11--but it was fun.

I got 7 out of 11 - Poland , Britain and Spain. But I lived in Spain and never saw anyone throw anything on the ground at any of the places we ate. Oh well it was fun :-)

                    1. septocaine_queen RE: fourunder Oct 6, 2010 07:05 PM

4 out of 10 for me. even with guessing.

                      1. mariacarmen RE: fourunder Oct 6, 2010 08:05 PM

6 out of 11. I love how all these years we've been told to clean our plates because there are starving kids in China and here we find out that they leave food on their plates!! ( :

                        1. enbell RE: fourunder Oct 6, 2010 11:15 PM

9/11 - definite lucky guesses on some. I actually got Scotland correct, but Poland threw me as well! Fun, thanks!

8 for me - and what galls me is I missed both England and Scotland. Also missed Poland, but it looks like almost everyone did. They were mostly silly questions though.

I also missed England & Scotland which probably galls me more than it galls Bob (unless he's also British)

No, I'm a Bostonian (you know, the place where cheddar rhymes with feta), but I've spent an inordinate amount of time in the British Isles.

That's b/c there ARE no right or left handed forks. It's a trick question.

except in iran, in any public gathering-- you'd perhaps want to eat right handed, w fork in right hand, even if you were left handed?

i'm feeling smug bc i got poland right! :) superstition wrt seafaring is not something to mess with. according to my bulgarian ex-roomie you also can't light a cigarette from a candle, or you'll drown a sailor that way. i got 8/11.

Wow soupkitten, I better start paying attention to these things now that I live in a seafaring town. Wouldn't want to inadvertently off any of my neighbors!

I thought the Iranian question was a trick because you *only* eat, etc... with your right hand. One of my college teachers was born left handed and her mother tied her left hand so she could not use it to eat, or write at school, etc. She said the left hand was used for bathroom business and that even with washing was considered unclean.

It struck me that even though some of the answers were surprising, they made perfect sense!

11/11 - I found this very simple but I have studied food/history/culture - not one single guess. I have been to most of the countries mentioned in the quiz. But it still was directed towards kids and obviously not serious so I'm not exactly pumping my arm in glee! ;-o
