Tips for Dining, Eating and Food Shopping in Phoenix

Looking for Scottsdale recs for Bachelor party weekend

Hi, fellow (LA) ChowHounder here, and I'm helping a friend plan my friend's bachelor party in Scottsdale next month and was hoping for some help in finding some great restaurants. I have done some research, but the PHX board is pretty sparse compared to the LA and SF boards...

Anyways, it will be a 3-4 day weekend, so a couple low-key spots with good (not expensive) food is required as well as a nice place for dinner on Saturday. I'm not exactly sure where we are staying yet, but was told it's in Scottsdale. A nice (but not too expensive) brunch/breakfast place would be nice too. Here's what I have so far, and hopefully you guys can help me to narrow it down or refine it:

Pizzeria Bianco (long lines)
Los Taquitos (taqueria?)
Los Dos Molinos (Mexican)
Over Easy (breakfasts)
Durant's (old school Steakhouse)
Chelsea's Kitchen (brunch)
T. Cooks (bfast?)
Matt's (brunch?)
Cafe ZuZu (brunch?)
Gallo Blanco (Mexican)
Noca (dinner)
FnB
Posh
Binkleys
Kai
Marcellino (Italian)
Roy's (Happy hour)
Mastro's (Steakhouse)
Flemings (Steakhouse)

TIA!

  1. If you're staying within a mile's radius of the intersection of Scottsdale Rd and Indian School Rd, you'll be able to walk to a different restaurant for every meal for 3 or 4 days, and get pretty decent food. However, if you are staying outside that area, you'll be driving, and often options in Phoenix will be closer than Scottsdale. You have a good list, and researching each of those options individually may yield more information than waiting for replies, here. Phoenix area CH participation has dropped off significantly, and the community seems to have moved to other on-line resources (Yelp, Twitter, etc.).

Let us know when you find out where you'll be staying.

    1. I would do J & G Steakhouse at the Phoenician Resort for the famous $19 burger and beer from Jean George..great bar and patio and one hell of a burger.
Duran't is one of my fav's for old school dining..
Breakfast/Brunch at Lon's at the Hermosa
Montelucia Resort for happy hour..T. Cooks at Royal Palms is a wonderful place for dinner and Dwight is the man at the piano bar that really makes this place special..love the small private rooms in the bar...love this bar!
I hit up Carolina's near the airport for great Mex food and will cure a hangover..super dive but excellent!

      1. In the Old Town Scottsdale area, I would definitely do Marcellino Ristorante. I believe that Chef Marcellino and Sima will be back from Italy by now.

I would not miss Binkely's, or NOCA.

        Enjoy,

        Hunt

        1. low key good i would put on Daily Dose -- breakfast nachos and a dr hendricks is a good way to recover form a long night out - also has happy hour 4-8

          1. For breakfast and brunch, Cafe Zuzu is excellent and Over Easy. Skip Matt's as too long a wait. DON'T go to P.Bianco, total waste of time and there are many other great pizza places with less wait and hassle. For steak, Durant's is a great special place, you will not be disappointed. Mastro's is always good, but you have that in LA, so nothing new there. As for Mexican, and New Mexican, there are so many great places that you cannot go wrong. For late night, I would go with Delux, Carlsbad, and The Mission.
