Where to find Indian Pudding in New York

Hi all,
I'm writing a story for Saveur Magazine on Indian Pudding. Does anyone know of any restaurants in the city that serve it?
Also, since it's a regional New England dish largely served in that area, have you ever tasted it? Do you like it? If you do, why (the taste, the texture, it evokes certain holidays, etc.). If you do not like it, can you tell me why? (taste, appearance, texture, unfamiliar, etc.)
Have you ever made Indian pudding at home?
Thanks so much.
Best,
Laura Weiss

Noho star. It's the same as Keen's. Noho star still has it on their menu.

They used to have Indian Pudding at Keens Steakhouse, but for some reason they took it off the menu somewhat recently. That would have been a great story I imagine, with an old time dessert at an old time steakhouse.

I'm not sure it's even that easy to find in the New England area. When in Boston, the only place I've had it was at Summer Shack.

I like it a lot, and am actually a little disappointed that Keens no longer has it. It's just very warm and comforting, with the cornmeal and the molasses.

I agree that it's not common even in New England- I grew up there and never saw it on the menu in the restaurant. I've only ever had it homemade. Have never seen it on a menu in New York!

Just a quick note that our regional boards are focused on where to find great chow in a given region. If you've got a suggestion on where Laura can find good Indian pudding in Manhattan, please do share it. General discussion of Indian pudding would belong on the General Topics board.

The last time I went to Noho Star, they had an indian pudding that I really enjoyed. It had a nice soft texture (the corn meal was not gritty), and it was not overwhelmingly molasses-y or bitter. A real cold weather comfort food.

havr had it twice... once and first at the bird's nest, high falls.upstate ny outside of new paltz....excellent; 2nd time for th'ging at a friend's who used crock pot to cook it... I love the molasses spicy sweet taste, the corn meal texture and a great opportunity to eat a warm desert w/ vanilla ice cream!

Elephant & Castle in the West Village has it. It was my first and only Indian pudding, and I liked it, but I have nothing to compare to. I liked the taste and the texture.

Reminds me a bit of pumpkin mousse...color,aromas and spicing are pumpkin-like...autumnal colors, as well...
