RIP Martini House

Worked there in the restaurant's Michelin-starred heyday, a few years ago. It will shutter at the end of the month.

What a shame. I guess St. Helena will soon have a P.F. Chang's.

Definitlly a shame. We made a reservation on Open Table to dine at the Martini House next month and shortly thereafter received a call that they were closing at the end of the month. They confirmed that the restaurant had been sold, and would reopen with "a different name and concept". Just what the NV needs...a chain steakhouse or pseudo Chinese restaurant! Very sad!

That's too bad.... possibly another victim of the economy. The family dinners in the cellar were a good deal but I guess not enough to keep them afloat.

So far, we've been lucky to avoid any "chain" restaurants.

Perhaps Fleming's will do what the Hillstone Restaurant Group did with opening a Houston's/Bandera clone under a different name (the Rutherford Grill).

I can see it now "Phlegming's Steak House" in St. Helena

I'm really shocked that they couldn't make it. It was one of the highlights of my last trip to Napa.

I hate that. MH was our favorite restaurant last year on our visit to NV. We ate there on our anniversary. It was outstanding. We dined outdoors and I thought it was wonderful. I hope they find a new owner that will carry on the old tradition.

Unfortunately the new owner is reputed to be Fleming's. If so, it's likely they'll open a Fleming's Steakhouse, or even worse a P.F. Chang's pseudo-Chinese Bistro. In any event, the Martini House will be a tough act to follow. It was a wonderful restaurant, that seemed to be doing ok. It was always busy when we were there. It is really sad that they are gone. It's also sad that such a beautiful building will wind up being a part of a chain. Very sad!
