Oversize Toblerone...anybody?

A few years back I got my beautiful little goddaughter an oversize toblerone (5kg) for Christmas.

I would like to surprize her this year with another one, but I am coming up empty trying to find them. Anybody have any idea where I can get them?

I think I got them at Costco, but I cannot honestly remember. Any help in locating them would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

  1. i have seen them at costco as well...usually around xmas.

    1. I'm pretty sure that a lot of grocery stores and drug stores (aka Shopper's Drug Mart) carry those big Toblerones, usually in the season holiday displays with other gift-like items. You're probably just a few weeks too early, after Halloween you'll probably see them popping up everywhere as usual.

Mmm, I love me a Toblerone - the bigger, the better. Shoppers is the spot where I usually find them as well.

OK, now that it is around Xmas, I need to find these things....anybody seen them around? My local Costcos don't seem to carry them...

sounds silly, but if you know anyone who's flying into your local airport, ask them to stop at the duty-free shop & get them for you...they always have them.

I saw them at Shoppers Drug Mart (Yonge and St. Clair) last week.

...these are the ones that are about 3 ft long? Cause Y&STC is close to my nabe

                1. re: Lazar

Oops, I was thinking of the smaller oversized version - the ones I saw were 18-ish inches or so and definitely not 5kgs. You're looking for WAY big ones and size does matter...so sorry, my bad...:)

                    No worries...the search continues

I saw the GIANT ones at Winners today at College park. They had about five. I didn't check the price.

        2. I saw some large Toblerones at Costco today, but I don`t think they are as big as 5 kg. These ones were about 2 ft long. I think you may be looking for a bigger one? I have seen HUGE ones in the past but not lately.

          1. I have seen them at Home Sense of all places (Yonge/Queen location).

As per my request of peppermint paté, are those the 3 ft long bars?

              1. re: Lazar

Today I saw the 3 ft. long ones at Shoppers on Mt. Pleasant, just south of Eglinton, behind the cash.

                1. re: illy

I also saw them at the Shoppers on Yonge just north of Eglinton.

illy & swissmissy....I am getting all emotional...thanks so much for the heads up

You have helped to make this a very special Xmas

let's all hold hands and sing....

                2. re: Lazar

Yes, but I can't confirm they are there now as Winners stock is not as consistent as Shoppers so you'd probably have better luck there.

                  1. re: LTL

Winners?! Maybe if they had 1997 stale dates. Lots of the usual big size at Costco.

Oh the memories!!!!..I remember buying a huge Toblerone at the Eaton center 20 years ago...
                      i think they're closer to 4 feet than 3.Makes a great gift...for me,i'm getting one for myself.

                      1. re: Kagemusha

I find it rather unfortunate if that has ever happened to you when purchasing food items from Winners Home Sense, but it hasn't been my experience, especially since I always check expiry dates whether shopping there or somewhere like Pusateri's. It happens everywhere. Goods at a lower retail cost aren't necessarily bad quality...

Well I got one. At the Shoppers on Mt. Pleasant. It $80 and that was a lot more than they were when I got them at Costco. But that was a number of years ago. And according to the Costco that I check, they won't be getting them in.

But the main thing is that I got one...and now all is right with the world.

If any of you are interested in getting one, the Shoppers on Mt. Pleasant had 2 left, and the HomeSense at Yonge & Queen doesn't have any

                          Merry Xmas to all....

I remember seeing the huge packages of Toblerone at Costco several years ago for $50. Several of them were opened (tampered) by curious people, so that may be a reason why they did not re-appear the next year.

                            1. re: jayt90

Actually, when I got them at Costco, I think they were around $30 -$40...quite a difference.

                            2. re: Lazar

Whoa, kind of makes millygirl's $16 biscotti look like a steal!

I love me some Toblerone and I'm sure your goddaughter will be suitably wowed - enjoy!

                  2. The sell them at the Real Canadian Superstore all year round!

...are you sure about that? Which locations?

The only time I have ever seen them is around Xmas, and just to clarify (as there has been some confusion) these are around 3 ft long and weigh about 10 lbs (4.5 kg)

                      1. re: Lazar

sorry i was mistaken I thought it was the 1ft not 3ft.

                        1. re: Lazar

I remember paying just under $100 for the huge toblerone, and that was over 20 years ago ..it weighed at least 10 pounds..

                          1. re: ChowTO

yup, that's the one. I paid over $80 and it is 4.5 kg or 10 lbs

I just Googled "Huge Toblerone" and the photos of the 4.5kg toblerones are the second largest back when i bought my toblerone..hmm they must have been 7-8kg?.
