Which to choose out of these Vancouver choices?

hope you can help with 2 questions .... for dinner one night, which would you choose -- C Restaurant, West or Blue Water Cafe for a special birthday dinner? also, any tips for Vij's with a big group, is it the kind of place where one person can go an hour or so ahead and put a name down on a list?? or does the whole group have to be there waiting in line the whole time?

I prefer Blue Water to West but both are very good. Blue Water is much bigger and busier so I wouldn't go there if you're looking for a quiet romantic dinner. Conversely if you're looking for a festive atmosphere, I would go with Blue Water.

Vij's seems to be inconsistent with whether they take names. For what it's worth when my girfriend went in and asked he agreed to do it. However, on a later occasion when I asked he declined - suggesting we wait in the lounge. Let's just say my girlfriend is a lot easier on the eyes than me.

I'd go with West or Blue Water. The vibe at Blue Water is better for a birthday I think. West was great the last time I was there but it's a bit too formal for me.

West is the most "special" of the bunch, IMO.

No tips on Vij's for a big group other than wait in line with the rest of the pack. I haven't tried it, but I think you can take turns waiting in line.

I remember someone saying you can wait in line while some of your group goes across the street for drinks? Never tried it myself ...
