Who do you think makes the most creative (flavor-wise) and delicious cupcakes in the greater Boston area? Which are the must tries?

Kickass Cupcakes is my favorite. There are places that might have better looking frosting peaks, but kickass wins in terms of creative flavors and variety. Just look at these super chocolate (hazelnuts on top), ginger peach (raspberry on top) , and banana cream cupcakes from my engagement party.

You know, I really don't have an appreciation for Kickass. They're cute, and the flavors are interesting, but every time I eat one I think "That was it for $3.00? I could do better on my own." They don't reach out and grab me.

I agree, $3 feels like a lot for a cupcake, but sadly that seems to be the going rate unless you buy them in a 6 pack at star. (sweet, rosies, lyndell's, whole foods, Danish pastry house, all charge $3 average)

I really like Lu Lu's on Salem St in the North Ed and Cakes in Milton Lower Mills. They're always fresh. I haven't tries Kickass' yet. Lyndell's frosting is too sugary for me. I like frosting with a bit more buttercream in it.
