Perfect Eggs Benedict in SF?

I'm an out of towner looking for the best Eggs Benedict in SF and by that I mostly mean the eggs are perfectly soft-poached. The hollandaise is the next most important part of my idea of good versions of this dish and then the bread/bisquit. I've had so many poor versions of this favorite breakfast dish that I don't like to order it without a solid recommendation.

I'm focusing on neighborhoods between Pacific Heights and the Castro (so I'm thinking that includes Western Addition, Hayes Valley, Lower Haight if I have my knowledge of SF neighborhoods straight) but if you have a suggestion for a place that is exceptional anywhere in SF, I'd like to hear it.

Any suggestions?

I too love Zazie's Eggs Benedict. I personally order the one with white cheddar and bacon. It seems every table I see has a version of their EB. I also love the back patio for seating.

Try the Butler and the Chef Bristro in South Park.

I'm a big fan of Zazie in Cole Valley. I've always had perfectly soft poached eggs there, hollandaise and muffin are always good. I've always been very pleased.

Canteen in Nob Hill has excellent, usually perfect eggs benedict. Sometimes they are less than perfect but even then they still beat most other places.

The rest of their breakfast menu is also excellent.

+1 to Canteen. I've also had a good eggs benedict at Absinthe for brunch in Hayes Valley, but Canteen is better.

+2, although calling the neighborhood Nob Hill stretches the definition...

Thanks for the rec on Canteen. We went and it was indeed very close to perfect eggs benedict. Home fries were far above standard, too. An all around excellent experience at Canteen (we got a table immediately at about 10:30 AM on a Sunday). We also ate at Dottie's that same week, which was impressive in its own way, but Canteen was wonderful. Thanks, folks!
