  1. That a pretty large area. What zip code might be a better parameter for this exercise. And more speciifcs on what type of pizza you think is best? NY? Chicago Deep Dish (good luck with that one) or ????

Have you ever tried Abbot's? I don't know about the delivery area for their Santa Monica store on Pico Blvd. across from SM College, but it might be worth the try.

          1. re: Servorg

I have not. Thanks for the rec!

            1. re: turtle07

It's not NY Style but it is good. There delivery charges are pretty high.

        2. re: turtle07

Maria's is very popular in the 90049 area.

          1. re: maudies5

Miss the original Maria's greatly! With their 3" dia pepperoni.. sigh..

I don't think there is anything particularly special for delivery in the area. I usually get San Genaro or Frankie and Johnnies. Pizzicotto is better, but they do take out.

Frankie and Johnnies moved. No longer on San Vicente.

              1. re: maudies5

totally spaced on that! Anything in that space yet? I'm not in the area as often as I used to be.

That will def limit options now that football season is upon us! San Genaro can be slow as it is.

                1. re: AAQjr

Space still empty. San Genarro still crappy. Toscana makes good pizza but doesn'r deliver. Pity. Because it is the best in the neighborhood. 90049 Maria's is beloved by folks under the age of 14.:)

Looks like they re-opened on Wilshire by Q's in that mall with the Fedex/Kinko's and are doing better than ever. Sounds like there was a dispute with the property owner, I'm glad they landed back in the area.

                3. re: AAQjr

I was just talking about the old Maria's with the 3" dia pepperoni. Loved that pizza. The last time I had it a few years ago, it was completely different, and not in a good way. Never ordered it again.

          2. I don't know if they deliver, but I recently tried Pitfire Pizza, on the Mar Vista / Culver City line and it was really decent. Definitely more like a NY crust than the bagel type crust of Abbot's.

Pitfire Pizza is very good but does not deliver but you can order on line and grab and go. Their store on Westwood Blvd is the closest to Brentwood.

Pitfire Pizza DOES deliver! Not sure if you are in the delivery area, but if you are, they'll bring it right to you!

                1. re: HCake

Pitfire does deliver but not west of the 405. They have on occasion delivered to me for a $15 fee - but then again i ordered 10 pies.

Santa Monica Pizza Kitchen is really good as is Dagwood's. Not sure where in the 9049 you are but they are worth a try.

                  1. re: gordo26

Since Pitfire now has a location open on Washington Blvd. in Mar Vista (well west of the 405) that delivery area restriction may no longer be an issue.

                      1. re: Servorg

True but given where Westwood is in relation to the 405 (less than a mile) I highly doubt that location will deliver up that far north to get to 90049. I'd love it if they did but doubt it.

              2. Lamonica's Pizza in Westwood Village has good New York style pizza and does deliver. This link shows their delivery area Beverly Glen to the east, Bundy to the West, Olympic to the south and Sunset Blvd to the North.

                1. I've had a couple of good experiences with Il Forno through LaBite. This is a legit restaurant across the board, with particularly good antipasti.

Abbot's Pizza is good too (wild mushroom is my favorite).

                  1. why are we excluding Joe's? On this rainy nite it's coming to me and im pretty psyched....course it will cost me 26.23....

                    1. Late to the thread, but in my mind, NY & C Pizza is the best pizza delivery on the westside.

I hope theyve improved their pizza...i went three times and they pretty much struck out for me....crusts truly sucked...i had high hopes for this place but.....

                        1. re: yogachik

                          I thought NY + C doesn't deliver anymore???

                        2. I like Lamonicas in Westwood, but I have not been there in years. I liked their sausage, white pizza and the Sicilian pepperoni and plain cheese. Is the quality still good?

i love lamonica's. they have a $9 special after 9 pm. great bargain for the price. its NY style and i think it's very decent pizza.

their pepperoni is good, their sausage is good... and if you ask for it well-done, they toast the cheese on top nicely.

                          2. I know you're looking for pizza on the westside, but the absolute best NY style pizza I've ever had is at Mulberry Street Pizzeria in Beverly Hills. They use the perfect combo of grease, cheese, tomato sauce and meat. Don't quite know how they do it. It must be magic! I have a pic of their pizza on my site: http://gourmetmiser.blogspot.com

Mulberry's is also my favorite (though admittedly I go for something easier/closer when I am in the mood for pizza). Most say Vito's, which I would put #2.

                              1. re: mdpilam

Neither deliver to Brentwood, Where the OP is.

                            2. Joe's has the best pizza in Santa Monica, but for delivery folks may want to consider Bravo. I'm NOT from NY and I'm not saying it's the best or anything, but the pizza is very good, the folks that answer the phone are totally nice and the delivery is prompt (and, us non-NY people think think the pizza is great - but, I know the crust is much more doughy than the NY variety).

Bravo place link Just a note. After looking at their website (if the information is still good?) they are open from 10:30 AM until 3:30 AM on Friday and Saturday's and until 1:30 AM the rest of the week. That is pretty great for the westside. No, let me retract that. It IS great for the west side and even for other parts of LA as well.

Bravo has great pizza, but they don't deliver to Brentwood.

                                  1. re: foodiemahoodie

Probably not (although if you offered them enough of a "delivery premium" you never know) but the OP did ask about the west side, so I figured that this is definitely a good information bite for this thread in general (all thanks to TracyO) and to inform those who come to this thread in the future about a great late night option.

                                    1. re: Servorg

For a place that has a connection to Ferrara's in NY... they sure can make a way too thick crust....Ive had thin once in a while...maybe it depends on who's makin the pizza.

                                      1. re: lapizzamaven

Have you tried requesting that they make yours "thin crust" and see what happens? I do this with Johnnie's NY Pizza and they turn out a beautiful thin crust pizza that I like a lot better than their normal thicker crust version.

                                      2. re: Servorg

He did say west side in OP - but quickly qualified it as Brentwood. I tried to them to my place - in S.M., but they said no, and no mention of "delivery premium". (some places I find will do that, sometimes they'll just deliver it anyway without a premium, but I'm not talking about Bravo. ) But they do have very good pizza.

"He did say west side in OP - but quickly qualified it as Brentwood."

I go at these threads with a longer term value in mind. The next poster that comes along asking about west side delivery options will undoubtedly be looking for some other delivery area preference, and then someone can point them at this little treasure trove of pizza 411.

                                    2. re: Servorg

should also be noted that bravo sells cannoli that are filled to order AFTER you place your order. this means that the shells are NOT soggy when you receive your food.
