"Chicken Nuggets Are Made Of This Pink Goop "

Yay or nay?

"This is mechanically separated chicken. Chickens are turned into this goop so we can create delicious chicken nuggets and juicy chicken patties. It's obscenely gross and borderline alien but it's not going to stop me from eating nuggets. They're too good.

Hey, as long as it's real chicken in that pink goop, or real beef in that hot dog goop, I'm fine with it.

Yeah, I know there are some fillers, but you should see some of the cardboardy "chicken" patties they have in China! LOL

One question only - Have you ever seen hot dog meat (even all-beef) before it's colored, formed, and shaped?

This is just another one of those "Oooh - let's scare people needlessly so we can rack up some more hits" kind of story. If you can't take what raw food looks like, don't look at it.

So these "chicken" products are as high in quality as hot dogs? Seems to me that is damning by faint praise. But, hey, this is America, to each his own.

There's already another thread covering this, but I will say what I said on that one. I'm not terribly bothered by the grind and separate process. To me it not much different than making sausage. The ammonia/color/flavoring process bothers me.

To repeat ferret's comment, McDonald's does not use mechanically separated chicken in their nuggets. There are some interesting ingredients in the nuggets, but mechanically separated chicken isn't in the mix.

Soylent Green .....here We Come.... Actually there are Natural muscle chix nuggets a little more expensive but minus the tendons, cartilage, and other goodies removed by mechanical stripping of raw chix carcassas
