Any Good Thai around Northbrook?

Chicago Wine Geek Oct 5, 2010 10:18 AM

I searched the board and didn't find anything. Anyone got any place that they recommend?

    Define "good."
Look into I Am Siam in Wheeling.

We ended up at Pacific Rim Kitchen on Skokie Blvd. Strange but good blend of Chinese, Japanese and Korean items. Dragon roll was ok, nothing fantastic. Egg drop soup was good. Singapore noodles was ok. Red beef curry was ok. Basil chicken was really good. Lunch portions are GIANT! Beware that for $6.95 you are going to take a lot home. On the way home I saw a sign for a Thai restaurant behind Deerbrook by Nick's Fishmarket that I'll try next time.

That place by Nick's was awful last time I went. Give it a go. Might be different now.

          Well that's not very encouraging.....

Do you remember the name of that place?

I think you're thinking of Thai Thai. It's gotten less than favorable reviews, but I've enjoyed take out from Thai Thai on occasion with some delicious dishes along with some disappointments.

You mean Simply Thai? On the corner of Pfingsten and Dundee? It used to be one of our take-out standbys, but a year or so ago the a young lady (owner's daughter?) took over and it really changed - for the worse. Disappointing - and looking for alternate Thai.

Have you tried it, gordeaux? DH and I both love Thai, so that might give us something besides pizza and Italian Beef to try while we are in Wheeling for the weekend.

I've been to Simply Thai twice. I work SOOO close. Wanted to love that place.
Seriously, for Thai in the area, look into I Am Siam. It's just off of Dundee Road a bit west, but it's still in Wheeling.

Check out Thai Sawasdee inLombard, IL. Hands down this is the best Thai Food I have had outside of Thailand. Whenever I place my order I ask that it be prepared as if I were in Bangkok and insanely spicy and I'm telling you that is exactly what I get every time. Some of my favorite dishes are the Pad Woon Sen, the Ground Chicken and Sticky Rice for dessert.

I don't know Thai Sawaskee. It might be great. The problem is that the OP is looking for a restaurant in or near Northbrook.
Lombard could not be farther from Northbrook unless it was in another state.
