Has anyone seen this item in any markets in the greater boston area? The roots are commonly used in Thai cuisine. Thanks in advance.

Every once in a while at Russo's but not frequently. I am always looking. Hopefully someone will give a good consistent source.

Hmm... in my experience, every time I picked up cilantro from Russos, it has roots attached.

Second that. Russo's cilantro almost always has roots attached (and lots of dirt too!).

During the Summer we bought cilantro with roots attached at the Reading Market Basket. They were very fresh. We were pleasantly surprised.

Easy to find at the Asian supermarkets (Ming's, C-Mart, Hong Kong, et. al.), but also not so hard to find at Western supermarkets in some neighborhoods, e.g., the Stop & Shop at South Bay.

I just got some last week at Wilson Farms. It seems like Russo's and Wilson have it sporadically, as does the Somerville Market Basket.

Just curious. Anyone know if the roots freeze well?

The Hmong farmers usually have it, but I think most of the farmer's markets are wrapping up this month.

It seems to come and go in pahses, often if one vendor has it they all do, and vice versa--as others have mentioned, russo's, market baskets, various chinese grocers, southeast asian grocers, also various indian grocers (downtown waltham, central square etc).

I recently picked up both cilantro and mint with roots at Arax Market in Watertown.

The DeMoula's in downtown Haverhill usually has it.
