L'artusi isn't in the same ballpark as maialino and scarpetta.....It's a whole differnt thing and purely based on food not nearly as good as the other two. I would lean towards Maialino...

      2. Have been to both Maialino and Locanda Verde multiple times each. My vote goes to Maialino

What did you think? Trying to decide myself. And what others did you go to?

            1. re: spajcic

We went to Maialino for dinner and Locanda Verde for brunch. Both terrific but I'd recommend getting some updated opinions as the trip was 5 years ago now. Enjoy!

I have been getting suggestions from friends that live there and also frequent nyc a lot. I'm just torn on where to go for the 3nights/days we are there.

This is what I have booked so far
                  Thoughts?!?!
                  Thurs night- nomad
                  Fri lunch-market
Fri dinner- le Bernardin(mom has to eat her)
                  Sat-Saxon+parol lunch
                  Sat night-l'artusi
                  Sun brunch- estela

To give you an idea of what I like---last time I was in NYC I went to both Carbone and Beaty & Essex for dinner. I wasn't a fan of Carbone, though I did like that it was exclusive/hard to get a table. Beauty and Essex was pretty good--loved the scene and thought the food was b+/a-. For lunch we went to the standard and to ABC kitchen. Loved the standard and though ABC kitchen was over-rated. Two of my favorite lunch spots have always been the spotted pig and the little owl.

I have been to most of the top rated spots in NYC--Daniel, per se, Bouley, gramercy tavern, Le cirque, union square, David Burke townhouse, nobu, Babo, Gotham bar and grille, etc. So not looking to go to any of those spots again.
Some of the restaurants I have looked into but need major help narrowing down are:

                  for dinner:
                  Nomad
                  Lusardi's
                  Colicchio & Sons
                  Telepan
                  Blue hill
                  Rafele
                  Via della Pace
                  nerai
                  Il Gattopardo
                  L' Apicio
                  Crispo
                  L'Artusi
                  Fig and olive
                  North square
                  Anisa
                  Il buco
                  Del posto
                  Mozzarella&Vino
                  Il corso
                  The nomad restaurant
                  Table D'Hote
                  Dovetail

                  For lunch/bruch are:
                  Prune cookshop
                  Fallow green
                  Market table brunch
                  Ichabod's brunch
                  Estela
                  Table D'Hote
                  The Waverly Inn and Garden
                  Arco cafe Sunday brunch
                  Tribeca's Kitchen
                  Saxon + parol for lunch

                  Thanks for all suggestions!!!

                  1. re: spajcic

                    That should say:
                    Prune
                    Cookshop
                    Gallow green

                    1. re: spajcic

                      Thurs night- nomad
Great choice, be sure to make a res, search this board for specific dish recs, great cocktails

                      Fri lunch-market
?? Market table? Or Markt cafe in chelsea? Either way too many better choices here. your list is odd and includes some not popular not great restaurants... Skim thru the manhattan board threads, and look at morandi, marta, tertulia, or perry street....

Fri dinner- le Bernardin(mom has to eat her)
                      Enjoy!

                      Sat-Saxon+parol lunch
                      Great

                      Sat night-l'artusi
                      Great, also make res

                      Sun brunch- estela
Be sure to make a res, very popular

                      1. re: Ttrockwood

                        Thanks for the info!!

I picked market table because I loved the little owl and spotted pig for lunch and thought they would be similar? I looked into perry street but they don't take resos, and I want a place that takes them. How is clockwork for lunch or dinner? What about upland for lunch?

                        1. re: spajcic

                          Other brunch/lunch options...
                          Dirty french, Santina, Sestanna?
