Cup Cakes in San Francisco?

Love Magnolia Bakery in NYC and love Vanilla Bake Shop in LA and hoping to find an amazing shop in SF... Basic goodness. Not overly done... Suggestions? :-)

    Recently went to Kara's to pick up the cake for my grandson's birthday and couldn't ressist sitting outside and munching on some cupcakes. Chocolate, of course! Excellent - moist and dense, with intense chocolate flavor. The cake was magnificent also. Once again, very moist, and definitely for the chocolate lovers out there!

      +1 for Kara's, -1 for That Takes The Cake.

      I also like the Red Velvet Cupcake from Sprinkles in Palo Alto, just not a fan of the 500+ calories.

      CupKate's Truck is now SF a couple times a week. I think their cupcakes are the best I've had.

        +1 for CupKate's. IMHO, way better than Kara's and much better than the ones sold at Magnolia's in NYC. One of my coworkers recently brought in two large boxes of her cupcakes so I got to sample about six different flavors. There were all very delicious and the perfect sized treat. They're not cheap, but definitely the best cupcakes I've ever had. My favorite was the salted caramel.

        For those in East Bay, you can follow her whereabouts on Twitter. She'll also deliver directly to your office if you purchase at least two dozen cupcakes.

          CupKates is the lightest/least sweet. Salted Caramel is my fav followed by the double Vanilla Bean.

          Second choice is Braxton's Boxes - They have a website and deliver.
