Le Pichet never dissapoints

I took my 12 year old son on a special mother-son date to Le Pichet last Tuesday night. He has been wanting to go with me for quite a while now as he is an up and coming foodie who loves to try new things. As soon as we walked in, we both got very excited by the overall feel of the place. It is a small, darkish room that feels homey and inviting. We were seated within 10 minutes and were greeted by our wonderful waiter. We started off with the Butter Lettuce Salad with mustard vinegrette and hazelnuts. It was delicious and perfectly dressed. Then on to the Smooth Chicken Liver Pate. It was so creamy and wonderful smeared on our bagette with two types of wonderful mustards and cornichons. Delicious! My son ordered the Hanger Steak and Frits. He said it was the best steak he had ever had and he even devoured the wild mushrooms that accompanied it... he usually doesn't care for mushrooms. I ordered the Chicken and Pork Sausage baked with potatoes and apples. It was absolutely divine. We enjoyed sharing each others dinners. To top off the amazing meal, we ordered the Pot Au Chocolate. The chocolate was amazingly rich and smooth and the fresh cream that came along with it was sweetend and whipped to perfection. The food, service and atmosphere was top notch and made for a really special evening with my special guy. We can't wait to go back!

  1. Having been there twice, my experience is they have successfully adapted the surly service of Paris restaurants. I can do without the attitude and medicore French offerings.

    1. I agree. One of my favorite places, they add so many personal touches, like the salted caramel with your bill, the food is great, the vibe is nice

      1. I was there for lunch a couple of weeks ago and had the butter lettuce salad and the tartine with country pate and the chocolate chaud for dessert. The dessert was taking a while to make (I suspect the perfectly whipped cream was the culprit) and I needed to get back to the office so they gave it to me in a to-go cup. Two of them so I could keep the cream separate from the chocolate. It was awesome. I've never understood the comments about surly attitude coming from the staff, as that (obviously) has not been my experience.

          Totally agree, Lauren. I used to work a block from there and had lunch there often. Always great service and spectacular food. The chicken liver pate is one of my favorite dishes in town.

            I agree with both of you. I have always had wonderful service and food here. That's why I keep gong back.

            Never had "bad" service there either. Although I prefer my waitstaff to leave me alone unless I call upon them, and not subject me to the 15-minutes-after-food-arrives very-fake "I'm going to ask you if you need anything" interruption.
