Help me fill a two-hour Chow window on Monday in downtown Vancouver
So I just noticed I have 6:45 to 8:30ish pm *free* on Monday between VIFF screenings. I'll be at Granville and Robson, needing to return there. The places on my list are all "quick bites" -- any thoughts as to where I might while away 100-120 minutes over something tasty but not too formal within reasonable walking distance where I won't feel silly on my own? TIA.

The Georgia Straight just posted the exact same question in one of its articles. Not sure of quality of grub though...

LOL, these are all on my list, not surprising. Hapa or Twisted Fork might be good for "killing some time" -- I get the impression Thai Basil and al Haldmain are not places to linger, though I hope to try both before the week is out.

How about Twisted Fork (1147 Granville)? Comfort food - cozy ambiance. Good place to sit back and read through your VIFF brochure. http://www.twistedforkbistro.ca

How about Shuraku? They have bar seating and the izakaya/sushi menu is actually pretty decent.

Try Chambar - It's always abuzz - people probably won't notice you're alone - excellent food, great desserts (my fave is thier lavender infused mousse). Not too far from Granville St (Right next to Stadium skytrain station) - about a 15 minute walk.
