Closed??? Oh No, "Excellent Restaurant" on Spadina...has new sign and name

Oh my heavens, we are freaking out, drove by today and saw our beloved "Excellent" has changed.
I didn't not stop to peek in to see if the menu is similar or wait staff had changed.

Anyone gone there yet? I am praying it is due to the shooting and they are "re-branding" the restaurant to avoid negative publicity.

It was such a shock, we have eaten there many late nights and never caught a wif of anything dangerous.

Anyone have any news on the new place yet? I am desperate for the ginger lobster.

New Generation Sushi on Bloor also had a murder on site, closed for a week "for renovations" and reopened as New Generation Sushi. They're doing a roaring business as they were before. I guess Torontonians aren't put off by such things.

What a relief. We ate there last night. I was nervous until I peaked in and saw the same waiters.
It has opened with new owners who called it somethiing like New Taste. Several of the wait staff are the same and two of the chefs are still there according to the wait staff.
We ordered Dau Miu (pea shoots), double ginger lobster and crispy beef.
The lobster and dau miu were delish and prepared the same way I have eaten them for the last 15 years. The ginger beef seemed the same but I think they over heated the sauce because the sugars formed a hard "candy' texture when the dish started to cook (like croque en bouche crispy).

It am so happy the lobster special is back. I never order it anywhere else.and it was a long dry spell. I ended up overeating and I never do that these days.
I should have ordered their seafood hot pot with soft tofu, that is our normal third dish and would have been a good test of the chefs because they make it my absolute favourite way.
Their Lai Tong is awesome as usual. I would go just for the soup if they would charge me for it.
Seemed quite quiet for a Friday night but I was happy to see the usual staffers there.
I hope people are populating to keep them going after a long pause. The renovation is nice and neat.
