Calamari Steak near the Bahia
My Aunt and Uncle are coming in from Albuquerque for my wedding, and she wants to find a good Calamari Steak near the Bahia (where they're staying) for their own anniversary. I don't really know what's around there, I suggested a squid sandwhich from P.L. Seafoods, but I think they want something a little more formal. Any suggestions?

So they want some sort of Italian restaurant version? Baci (coats required) on Morena across the freeway might work? Honestly, this is a tough request. Maybe ask Red Sails at the Hilton on Mission Bay to order it? They have an extensive seafood menu. Or if it is their anniversary spring for a cab to one of the local fish places like the Fishery (in PB) or Oceanaire (downtown.) Good luck, I am getting married in the next month and sometimes people ask questions that are very difficult and stressful. Congrats!

Baci might be a possibility. Red Sails is an old (but fun) dive bar/restaurant on the harbor on Shelter Island (about a half block down from the Brig, not MB Hilton). I thought maybe Saska's in Mission Beach but looking at the website - no Calamari steak. Maybe Fishery. I can't think of any places that I have seen "fresh" calamari steak - I think mostly frozen, defrosted.

The best calamari I've ever had is at the Chase in Santa Barbara and they prepare it in a caper beurre blanc and they prepare it in such way that it taste just like abalone.
Best bet is at PLS calamari sandwich..maybe Bay Park Fish Company.
