LOCKED DISCUSSION

Hi,
My husband and I recently moved to Reno from San Francisco. We attended a few chowdowns there and I was wondering whether any are organized here? Is so, what is the mailing list/yahoo group?

We had a couple of them from about 2003 through about 2007, but then we had two where almost no one showed up and they kind of faded away.
Yimster, a well-known Chowhound from the Bay Area, will probably be in the area in the next few months (Yimster, if I'm wrong, correct me) and I thought I'd plan one at Jia's Wok to try the soup there and get Yimster's input, given his expertise in Chinese food.
I think El Tumi (Peruvian food), Naan and Kabob (Middle Eastern), Oriental Express (special menu only in Chinese) and one of the several good Thai or Vietnamese places are good candidates.
Maybe a return trip to Sezmu, too.
How frequently do we want to meet? There are some Chowhounds at Tahoe who are snowbirds who will be heading south soon so maybe we can do one in a couple of weeks in case they are interested.
How about emailing me at renochowhounder@yahoo.com and I'll send out an email with everyone's email address so we can communicate that way? The Chowhound gestapo is unhappy about using the boards for something other than food discussion.

Ditto on all counts. Steve has organized some chowdowns in the area, but none recently.

Steve Timko seems to be the go-to person for this. We live at the lake and would also be interested.

I live in Winnemucca (daughter in Reno) and would also be interested (grew up in Carson City, College in Reno).
