Good place for drinks/apps at MOA/near MSP airport

Amy P. Oct 1, 2010 07:50 AM

I have a friend flying through MSP tonight with a brief layover. Since I can't go to Surdyk's Flights at the aiport due to not having a ticket, what's the next best place to meet up for a quick drink? Am thinking MOA may be easiest destination. Any recs?

There is a Houlihan's with a full bar outside of security at MSP. I've never eaten there, but my guess is that it leans more toward "meh" than "good." That's probably the easiest place to meet.

As far as decent food goes, I guess that the MOA will get you at least decent food. Another possibility for decent food is Axel's River Grill, which is right over the Mendota Bridge in (surprise) Mendota, MN.

Thanks for the ideas, Bob, I just realized that my friend's layover will be pretty short so it may have to be Houlihans. Oh well, :)

I've done the Houlihan's on a layover. It's actually a nice space, with a big "wine room." The menu is standard Houlihan's fare, which is to say competent but not particularly exciting mid-range chain food. You can have a pleasant enough lunch or drink & appetizers there.
