Fairway in Douglaston?

Has construction started for the new Fairway that is supposed to open in Douglaston? Anyone know when this store is due to open?

There was an article in today's Daily News that the opening date will be November 16.

Fairways just posted on FB that they are hiring for Douglaston Opening!

Is the construction scheduled to begin soon? I pass by the empty Waldbaum's store all the time and nothing has been done at all.

Well in the January Daily News article linked above a F-way VP states that they are still waiting on permits to start construction and that construction, once started, will be 6 - 8 months. But I have also read on the F-way Facebook page that they will start working on Douglaston after they open the UES store. I also remember reading somewhere (maybe on these boards) that F-way focuses exclusively on one new store at a time which could mean a longer wait still:-(
On a positive note, if you find yourself on I95 in Connecticut, be sure to check out their newest store in Stamford - it's quite fabulous. Makes the Plainview store look like a corner bodega.

I was at the one in Red Hook .I asked them they are saying OCT or Nov of 2011. I which they would hurry up i live in Queens .

I was told months ago by someone at Plainview that Douglaston would be next after Stamford. Last week, someone at Red Hook said UES is next. My sister lives right near Douglaston and said she saw some activity there and an open door today and I read an article in a local paper saying that electrical work was actually done in January. So maybe it will be this year...

While a Douglaston is an inconvenient shopping location for me and I find fairway overpriced, I do go past this location on a somewhat regular basis. I can confirm that after many months where absolutely nothing has happened, the door has been open several times in the last two weeks. But based on how little has been done, they still have a long way to go before they'll open.

After my June 1 post here, I e-mailed Fairway corporate and the response was "late fall."
